Robinhood
ShareCalc reads Robinhood's account activity report, a CSV file. The importer was built from Robinhood UK reports. Support for bank transfers depends on the transaction code, as described below.
Export and import
- In Robinhood, select Account. In the app, open the menu.
- Select Reports and statements.
- Under account activity reports, select Reports, then Generate new report.
- Choose the dates, and include every type of transaction.
- When the report is ready, download the CSV file. This can take from a few minutes to a day.
See also Robinhood's own instructions.
Export all transactions since the account opened. Use non-overlapping date ranges: Robinhood supplies no transaction IDs. See duplicate handling.
Add the file to an import in ShareCalc and leave File Format set to Auto-detect.
Coverage
- Buys and sells of shares.
- Options: bought or sold to open or close, expiries and assignments.
- Dividends, with any tax and fees taken from them.
- Stock rewards, as a purchase of the shares.
- Interest on your cash.
- Bank transfers recorded as
UKBT.
Anything else is listed in Import Messages and not imported.
Not imported
Add these in Transactions, or with a ShareCalc CSV.
- Option exercises. They aren't imported.
- Other bank transfers. Transfer codes other than
UKBT, including USACHtransfers, aren't imported.
Checks and fixes
Review Import Messages and follow the shared checks.
- Stock rewards. The shares are imported as a purchase at the reward's value, which ShareCalc works out from the tax Robinhood withheld. ShareCalc imports no separate reward-income transaction. Import Messages shows the calculated gross reward; its UK tax treatment depends on the reward's terms.
- Dividend dates. ShareCalc uses the report's record date (
R/D) as the ex-dividend date. These can differ, particularly for older dividends and special distributions. Check the issuer's published ex-dividend date and correct that field in Transactions where necessary. - Multiple dividends for the same share on the same day. ShareCalc imports only the first dividend and reports the others in Import Messages, even when there are no tax or fee deductions. Add the missing dividends manually. If tax or fees were deducted, also check that they are attached to the correct dividend. The same limitation applies to multiple stock rewards for the same share on one day. Dividends and rewards are grouped separately, using the report's Activity Date.
- Option assignments. An assignment is two lines on the same day: the options, and a buy or sell of the shares whose description ends in "Option Assigned". ShareCalc imports them together. If either is missing, the assignment isn't imported and Import Messages names the lines it found.
- Trade dates. ShareCalc uses the report's Activity Date. The report contains no execution times, so ShareCalc cannot adjust dates between time zones.
- New shares in Assets. New shares are added as Unclassified. Options are recognised from their description.
