interactive investor
The interactive investor parser accepts the transaction-statement CSV whose header begins with Date, Settlement Date, Symbol, Sedol, ....
An interactive investor statement represents one account's single currency wallet. The file does not name the account and may not identify its wallet currency unambiguously. Importing multiple statements together increases the chance that ShareCalc can infer the currency of foreign currency trades.
Import Wallet Statements Together
- Add all files to the same ShareCalc import.
- Leave the format set to Auto-detect, or select interactive investor CSV if necessary.
- If ShareCalc asks for a wallet currency, check the file and choose the correct currency.
- Route the files to the correct account when prompted. All files in the import will be routed to a single account. If you want to route to different accounts, you need to import the files for each account in separate imports.
- ShareCalc will attempt to infer trades made in foreign currencies for each SEDOL traded, but if the currency is ambiguous, then ShareCalc will create a temporary currency asset for all trades of that SEDOL, which you need to remap in the Assets section.
Coverage
The parser recognises:
- security purchases and sales;
- foreign-currency trades settled into the statement wallet;
- dividends and gilt coupons;
- conventional gilt maturities;
- accrued income on recognised gilts;
- broker interest received and paid;
- recognised deposits, withdrawals, subscriptions, and internal transfers; and
- currency exchanges between wallets.
For gilts, ShareCalc recognises the security only from a SEDOL in its bundled DMO reference data. It uses the settlement date and the gilt's terms to derive accrued income because the statement gives clean price and total cash but does not state accrued interest separately. Review the explanatory import message for each affected trade.
Important Limitations
- The statement contains no account identifier, so ShareCalc cannot always route it without asking.
- It has no separate commission column. Fees and taxes are not broken into their respective fields by ShareCalc. A note is added to each transaction stating the estimated fees and taxes.
- Currency exchanges are recorded in two statements: the currency to and the currency from. The to transaction does not contain the from currency so it will be skipped. The trade is captured by importing the from statement.
- Index-linked gilt redemption quantity cannot be derived from redemption cash and must be completed manually.
Review every import issue, asset classification, currency conversion, and account balance before relying on the result.
